-   Italian language courses

Politecnico di Torino considers fundamental for all its foreign students to have a basic knowledge of Italian language. This can be proved either by certifications issued by third-party Institutions meeting the requirements established by Politecnico, or by passing the final exam of an Italian language course provided by the Politecnico Language Center (CLA). All exchange students must have the course Italian Language or Lingua Italiana in their study plan, so that it can be listed on any issued certificate, according to the following rules for each specific case:

1. DOUBLE DEGREE STUDENTSenrolled on a degree course entirely taught in English: these students must attend Italian language - first level  (A 1) within the first year of enrolment at Politecnico.

2. DOUBLE DEGREE STUDENTSenrolled on a degree course taught in Italian or taught in English for the first year only, these students must take Lingua italiana – secondo livello (A2).

3.ERASMUS/BILATERAL AGREEMENT STUDENTS: they must attend the Italian language course - first level. It will be automatically loaded in the learning agreement of every student; therefore if the student wishes to change for level A2, please inform the Incoming Office.

-   English language (ONLY for double degree students)

English is a compulsory subject for all double degree students at the Politecnico and students are required to pass IELTS with a minimum score of 5.0 or to possess accepted certification (https://didattica.polito.it/cla/en/inglese.html) at an equivalent level in order to complete their degree.

In case students enrolled in a Machelor of Science degree want to apply for the IELTS exam in Politecnico, it should be known that it is required a payment of 100 Euros at the Segreteria Studenti-Cittadella. Only students enrolled in a Bachelor of Science degree are exempted by the payment, if they pass the exam at one’s first attempt. English language is considered as “extra-subject”: this means it does not contribute to the credits required to obtain the bachelor or master of science degree.
